Tomorrow is going to be a long day for us!  In fact it is going to be a long day for everyone!  My husband and I have an event tomorrow that we decided it was best not to take the kids too.  My mom wasn’t available to watch the kids all day, and I don’t think my Grandma would be up to keeping them for 12 hours, so I have arranged 3 shifts of babysitters for the day!

I am trying to be as organized as I possibly can for the schedule tomorrow and for the shift changes!  First shift is from 8:45 am-12:30 pm.  A close friend and neighbor who will also be bringing her two kids will be watching the boys. Second shift is from 12:30-5:45 and will be my Grandma and third shift from 5:45 until we get home will be my mom!  I know with the constant change of sitters the boys will have a blast.  Here are a few things I did for the day to make it easier on the sitters:

  • I pre-ordered pizza for lunch.  Delivery time is set for Saturday at 11:45 am.  I figured it would be easier on our neighbor to feed all 4 kids and herself if she didn’t have to worry about it.  Not the healthiest option, but my husband and I thought it would definitely be the easiest!
  • I made a snack bin for the day.  I have Clif Fruit Snacks, small packs of Goldfish Crackers, granola bars, and other assorted items ready to go and easy to grab.
  • I made sure to lay out cups, plates, and all the kitchen items that may be needed for the day.
  • We are also caging the kitten for the day.  I posted yesterday how he went for surgery to get fixed (  check it out here) and since he will still have stitches we are going to have him and everything he needs in a pen in our room.  We figured if we do this there will be less things for the sitter to have to worry about.

What do you do to prepare for a long day away without the kids?
