Well that lasted the first few days. I personally HATE wearing shoes and would prefer the kids not have shoes on in my house!! So after three days I no longer required shoes to be on before we start our school day. The week continued and everything went just as well as it did when we had shoes on.
Now that we are finishing our 3rd week of homeschooling I am no longer a stickler on clothing. I have learned that the best thing I can do is follow the cues of the kids! As soon as the kids wake up I let them know what the schedule is for the day and typically Bryson wants to get a subject out of the way first thing ( he LOVES math!!) before breakfast.
One morning this week Bryson was up at 6:20 and ready to take his math “test”. I didn’t see the point of getting everyone dressed when he was ready to go! He passed his math with flying colors. Another morning he woke up and asked to do reading during breakfast. For reading, I read a story and then we talk about it and remember key points in the story.
I agreed to read the story during breakfast as long as he would pay attention. I found that Bryson paid better attention during breakfast to the story then when were sitting at our school table reading the same story over and over!! After this morning I realized… it doesn’t really matter what clothes we have on to do school work as long as we are ready to learn!
I have found that following Bryson cues are the best way for us to learn and accomplish our day! We honestly get more work done first thing in the morning before breakfast even starts!! I love being able to have Bryson home for school and being able to create our own schedule that works for us! I am also amazed how much he has picked up in the last three weeks already!!
Such a great experience to share with my kids!!
