Tuesday:
We got off to a rocky start in the morning. I eventually put the kids back to bed, regained my patience and started our day all over. ( A smart move on this Mama’s part!!) As we started going through our curriculum I found that much of it was review for Bryson and we finished quickly. My mistake of the day was trying to go from one subject to another to get everything done.
I quickly realized that he is only 5 years old and needs breaks! Many, many breaks through out the morning! Once we began taking breaks and not trying to get everything done all at once our day started to go much better. I also found that I was not fighting with Ian ( my 3 year old!) to keep him busy.
Overall I will say that Bryson did very well. Later that evening I talked to my hubby on the phone and was excited to hear that he told his Dad what we had done during school time!
Wednesday:
I honestly feel that Wednesday was quite rushed. I had a blogging event that morning and then had to be at work at 2:30. We got through everything we were supposed to, but I didn’t get to add many fun activities in like I try to! None the less Bryson did great, but said his favorite part of the day was lunch!
Thursday:
I think we are finally starting to get the hang of this homeschool thing! I have learned in the last two days that choices are by far the best way to go with Bryson. During breakfast I told him everything we needed to do for the day and I asked him what he wanted to do first!
Bryson responded very well with me throughout the day by telling me what he wanted to do first and next and when he needed a break! I have to say that Thursday has by far been the best day we have had yet!!
Friday:
Friday was a great day for us. We got through all of our assignments in a timely manner and had a great time! The best part was that we were even packed up and ready to go for our weekend trip on time with all of our school work done, which meant that we did not have to bring any school work with us on our trip!
Our Overall Week:
This first week was a give and take process for the entire family, especially for me! I learned that I have to give Bryson options and that I can’t expect him to sit at the table or the computer for hours on end completing assignments! I will be talking more this week about one of my favorite programs we are using for reading and about keeping my toddler entertained while I am working with my kindergartener!
