Over a year ago a friend of mine was moving out of the country and offered us somethings that she was not able to take with her. Among the things was an aloe plant! The plant was fairly small when I took it home and my friend had told me that she had rescued it from a clearance rack and nursed it back to health.
In the last year the plant has flourished! It sits by my kitchen sink in front of a window and is completely thriving. The best part is that since it is right by the kitchen sink it is very easy to remember to water it!!
*** My sink was full of dishes when I decided to take the picture, so I moved the plant to the kitchen table so I didn’t have to load the dish washer ***
Up until today this plant has just been growing on the counter. Today it served it purpose!!! I made waffles for the kids this morning and as I was finishing up I reached around the waffle iron to unplug the machine and I bumped into it with my arm! It hurt quite a bit!!
I immediately went to the aloe plant and cut off one of the stems to put on my burn. The burn started as a nice welt on my arm and I got the aloe on it quick enough that the stingy pain is gone and all I have left is a slight red mark where I hit the hot waffle iron!
Be sure to check out this great infomation here that I found on the usages of an aloe plant!! Also be sure to consider getting an aloe plant for your kitchen! I can’t remember the last time I burned myself while cooking ( I know it hasn’t been since this plant was given to me!!) but I am very glad I had it!!
