We eat quite a bit of chicken. I normally purchase whole chickens when I find a good deal on hormone/antibiotic free chicken. A whole chicken will typically be about 5 meals for my family. I always use the entire chicken as much as I can. I even make stock from the carcass.
I love when I find a good deal on chicken breast! I have found the best deals to be buying bone in split chicken breast. Chicken breast is quick and easy to de-bone. When you de-bone chicken breast you have the breast meat and the chicken tenderloin meat!
De-boning a chicken breast is very simple. Here is a great video that found that shows you how to do it yourself.
I found hormone/antibiotic free bone in split chicken breasts this week for $1.19 per pound. I purchased 2 breast ( which also gave me 2 chicken tenders) for $2.50. Two boneless, skinless chicken breasts would have been $4.95 ( and I wouldn’t have had the tenderloin or the bones to make stock out of!!)
